Privacy Policy

We don't ask for accounts and we don't collect personal data on our servers. Here's the full picture.

Summary

If you don't want to read every line, here is the short version:

  • We don't have user accounts. There is nothing to sign up for.
  • We don't run our own analytics, tracking pixels, or behavioural advertising on this site.
  • The data the tools generate (timer state, theme, recent timers) lives in your browser's localStorage, on your device. It never reaches us.
  • We use a few well-known infrastructure providers (web host, font CDN) that may see your IP address as a normal part of serving the page.
  • We don't sell, trade, or share information about you - because we don't have any.

The rest of this page explains each of those points in detail.

1. Who we are

This Privacy Policy describes how stopwatch-online.com ("we", "us", "our") handles information when you visit and use the website at https://stopwatch-online.com and any of its sub-pages and tools (the "Service").

You can reach us at: contact {@} stopwatch-online {.} com.

2. Information we do not collect

We want to be explicit about this because it is unusual:

  • We do not ask for your name, email, phone number, address, or any other personal identifier.
  • We do not have user accounts, sign-up forms, or login systems.
  • We do not use behavioural advertising, retargeting pixels, fingerprinting scripts, or session-replay tools.
  • We do not sell, rent, share, or trade information about visitors with marketers or data brokers.

3. Information stored in your browser

The tools on stopwatch-online.com save a small amount of state on your device, using your browser's localStorage. This data never leaves your computer or phone - we cannot read it. It exists so that, for example, your stopwatch keeps the time you had on it when you accidentally close the tab.

Examples of what may be saved locally:

  • Your selected theme (dark, light, or one of the colour themes).
  • The current state of the stopwatch (running, paused, elapsed time, lap list).
  • Recent timer presets you have created.
  • Your saved alarms in the Alarm Clock (time, label, sound, on/off state).
  • Your Pomodoro settings (custom durations, alarm sound, repeat count).
  • The country selected in the Holidays tool.
  • Your last-used cities in the World Clock.

You can clear this at any time by clearing your browser's site data for stopwatch-online.com (in most browsers: Settings → Privacy → "Clear browsing data" → "Cookies and site data").

4. Cookies

stopwatch-online.com itself does not set tracking cookies. The tools rely on localStorage instead, which is technically not a cookie and is used purely to remember your preferences on your own device.

Some third-party services (see Section 6) may set their own cookies as part of normal operation. We do not control those cookies. If you want to block them entirely, your browser's settings let you disable third-party cookies for this site.

5. Server logs

Like virtually every website on the internet, the server that delivers stopwatch-online.com to your browser writes basic technical logs. These logs typically include:

  • Your IP address (from the network connection itself).
  • The date and time of the request.
  • The URL you requested (e.g. /timer/).
  • The HTTP response code (e.g. 200, 404).
  • Your browser's user-agent string (browser and OS family).
  • The referring URL, if any.

These logs are used only to keep the site running, to debug errors, and to defend against abuse such as denial-of-service attacks. We don't use them to build profiles of individual visitors. Logs are kept for a short retention window and then deleted or aggregated.

6. Third-party services

To run the site we rely on a few external providers. Each one may, by the nature of how the web works, observe your IP address and basic request metadata when your browser fetches a resource from them. We have selected these providers because they are mainstream, reputable, and publish their own privacy commitments.

Web hosting / CDN

Our static files (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, images) are served by a hosting / content delivery network. When you load a page, your browser connects to the hosting provider's servers, which means the provider can see your IP address as part of serving the page.

Outbound links

We sometimes link to third-party reference sites (for example MDN, Wikipedia). When you click such a link, you leave stopwatch-online.com and the destination's privacy policy applies, not ours.

Future analytics

If we ever add a privacy-respecting, cookie-less analytics product (such as anonymised page-view counting), we will update this Privacy Policy to describe what it collects and how to opt out.

7. How we use information

The minimal information we do see (server logs, third-party requests) is used only to:

  • Deliver the website and the tools to your browser.
  • Keep the service available, secure, and free of abuse.
  • Diagnose technical problems when they happen.

We do not use this information to identify individuals, target advertising, or build behavioural profiles.

8. Children's privacy

stopwatch-online.com is a general-audience website that is suitable for visitors of any age. Because we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone - including children under 13 (or under 16 in the European Economic Area) - the site is, by design, safe to use without an account.

If you believe a child has somehow provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take reasonable steps to delete it.

9. International visitors

The site is operated as a static website served from a global CDN. By using the Service, you understand that your request may be served from, and basic technical logs may be processed in, a country other than the one you are visiting from. We rely on standard contractual safeguards offered by our infrastructure providers for any cross-border data flow.

10. Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example, the EU/EEA under GDPR, or California under CCPA/CPRA), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the use of personal data we hold about you. Because we do not maintain user accounts or personal databases, in practice there is nothing for us to look up - the information that affects you most directly is the data in your own browser, which you control entirely by clearing site data.

If you still want to exercise a right, or if you have a question about how this policy applies to you, contact us at contact {@} stopwatch-online {.} com.

11. Security

The site is served over HTTPS so that traffic between your browser and the server is encrypted in transit. Beyond that, because we do not collect or store personal data on our servers, the typical risks of a website data breach (leaked passwords, leaked addresses, leaked credit cards) do not apply to us.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time - for example, if we add a new tool that interacts with your browser in a new way, or if we adopt a new third-party service. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be highlighted on the page so that returning visitors notice them.

13. Contact
